United Voices for Newcomer Rights
A community-led nonprofit site that keeps practical newcomer resources distinct from the information needed by donors and funders.
United Voices for Newcomer Rights is a community-led organization founded in Albuquerque in 2019. Its work covers immediate needs as well as longer-term systemic change through educational, economic, cultural, and health initiatives. Programs are developed with newcomer communities, not merely for them.
Help first
A newcomer may arrive looking for housing, employment, schools, interpretation, or information about their rights. That need is immediate. A donor, funder, or volunteer arrives with a different set of questions about the mission, leadership, and use of support.
We kept the resources route short and unmistakable. Nobody looking for practical help should have to read a fundraising argument first. Mission and giving material has its own space, and the structure is prepared for readers who may use different languages.
Programs, named as they are
The program names are specific: Tea Circle, the Refugee and Immigrant Well-Being Project, Pathways Mentoring, Youth Empowerment, Interpretation and Translation, and Systemic Change.
It would have been easy to replace them with more polished labels aimed at funders. We kept the names because the communities using the programs already know them. Familiarity to those communities matters more than tidiness in a grant presentation.
The small UVNR team can publish news, newsletters, job openings, and changing resources directly through Webflow.
