A capable all-in-one website builder with one major constraint: the site cannot leave Wix without being rebuilt.
Wix remains a capable hosted builder. MIS does not use it for new projects because its workflow and lack of site export do not fit how we build.
Webflow Wix is more capable than its reputation suggests
Wix can take a business from no website to a polished online presence without requiring a designer or developer. It now includes substantial business, ecommerce, and SEO tools. If you built a Wix site to get started and it still serves the business well, that was a reasonable decision and may remain one.
MIS does not use Wix for new projects, but not because the platform is unusable.
Why it does not fit our work
The site is not portable. Wix confirms that a Wix website must remain hosted on its infrastructure. You own your content, but the finished site cannot be exported and operated elsewhere. Leaving means rebuilding.
Its design workflow is not ours. Wix Studio offers more responsive control than earlier Wix editors, but our design and development process is built around Webflow and custom frameworks. We can produce and support better work in the tools we use every day.
Advanced work stays inside Wix’s conventions. Custom functionality is possible through Wix’s own development tools, but it remains tied to that ecosystem. For clients asking MIS to build unusual integrations or software, a more portable foundation is a better fit.
SEO alone is not a reason to leave. Wix now provides redirects, canonical controls, structured data, and other advanced settings. A migration should solve a real business, design, performance, or maintenance problem.
When Wix is fine
If the site looks right, performs acceptably, ranks for the searches that matter, and is easy for your team to manage, stay on Wix. Spend the migration budget on something with a better return.
Rebuilding makes sense when the current design is holding the business back, required integrations no longer fit, or the site needs enough structural change that staying offers little advantage.
What we recommend instead
Webflow when the client wants visual editing and MIS is responsible for the design and build.

Migrating off Wix
Because Wix does not export a working site, migration means rebuilding. Content, images, page titles, and search metadata can still be carried across. Existing URLs are preserved where possible and redirected where necessary.

What happens next
If your Wix site is no longer serving the business, we can assess what a rebuild would involve. If it is working well, staying on it may be the better use of your budget.
