Why we use Astro
We are a Certified Webflow Partner, and Webflow is what we build for most clients. Astro is what we reach for on the smaller set of projects where the reason Webflow wins, a visual editor a non-developer can trust, does not apply: sites maintained by developers, where speed and direct control over markup and performance matter more than visual, no-code editing.
This site, misinc.com, is one of them. We rebuilt it on Astro in 2026, and wrote up the full reasoning in our 2026 rebuild post. Client projects get the same treatment whenever the team maintaining the site afterward is made up of developers, or when the front end of a custom application needs to be fast and code-first rather than assembled visually.
What it actually changes
Astro renders pages to plain HTML by default and only ships JavaScript for the parts of a page that need it. In practice that means faster page loads and less to go wrong in the browser, at the cost of the visual, no-code editing that makes Webflow the right answer for most of our clients.
How we decide which one a project gets
The question is not which platform is better. It is who will maintain the site once we hand it over. A team of developers who want full control does not need a visual builder standing between them and the markup. A business owner who needs to change a page without emailing us does.
What to know
Astro is not a content management system on its own. Editorial content still needs somewhere to live, whether that is a headless CMS, structured files in the codebase, or another data source, and that decision is part of scoping the project, not an afterthought once the site is built.
What happens next
If your team includes developers and the priority is speed and direct control rather than a visual editor, we can tell you honestly whether Astro fits or whether Webflow is still the better call.
