Build the tool your process is missing

Portals, integrations, internal tools, and automation for work that off-the-shelf software cannot handle cleanly.

Custom Software

When custom software becomes reasonable

Most businesses use several subscriptions that each solve part of a process. The gaps are often filled by a person copying information, maintaining a spreadsheet, sending reminders, or checking two systems against each other.

Custom software is worth considering when that workaround consumes meaningful time, creates avoidable errors, limits service, or prevents the business from doing something important.

It is not automatically the answer. Configuration, a better process, or a focused integration may solve the problem with less cost and risk.

What we build

  • Client and member portals. Secure places for people to view information, submit material, or check status.
  • Integrations. Connections that move approved data between stores, accounting systems, forms, CRMs, calendars, and other services.
  • Internal tools. Purpose-built applications for scheduling, intake, inventory, reporting, content, or other recurring work.
  • Automation. Reliable handling of repetitive steps that follow known rules.
  • Specialized web applications. Public or private software built around a workflow that existing products do not support well.

Start with the smallest useful version

We begin with the process, its exceptions, the people involved, and the cost of the current workaround. From there we define the smallest release that can prove the tool is useful.

That first version may be one integration or one narrow workflow. Starting there makes the assumptions visible before the project grows around them.

Ownership and ongoing costs

Custom software has a life after launch. Hosting, monitoring, security updates, outside services, backups, support, and future changes should be part of the decision from the beginning.

We use established, supported technologies and provide documentation appropriate to the project. The goal is to make the system understandable and maintainable, including if another qualified developer needs to work on it later.

Our own Add On IDX and Add On AI Chat products began with the same decision: the available software did not fit the job closely enough.

What happens next

Describe the process that causes the most repeated work or errors. We will tell you whether custom software is justified or whether a tool you already have can solve it.
